The Blog/Post documents are incomplete without tables, yes that is right. You can face many situations where you have to –
- Creating a table to compare two or more than two types of categories.
- Show features of various service providers or categories.
- List some items/services.
- A perfect replacement of bullet points etc.
My first WordPress blog surprised me when I was not able to find a table creator in WordPress Rich Text Editor.
I was not able to search table creator in WordPress so decided to quickly create one for myself, using MS Word and copy pasted it into the WordPress editor. But definitely, this opened a question in my mind which then eventually ended up with two useful WordPress plugins I can find
You will find many other Plugins claiming to have features to build the advance table, however personally I recommend TinyPress.
Though I will share the features pros and cons for both of them here to help and decide which fits your need to create and customize table easily.
Search the plugin TablePress and activate it. Once activated, you will see TablePress menu item and links to add a new table to your blog/post.
To create a new table just click on “Add New” Table and provide details – table a name description and choose the number of rows and columns you are looking for.
Now move to your post and Edit it, you will see the TablePress Icon as Shown below. Select the table you want to insert to the post .
You can also use the shortcode to add the table to embed in your post, just copy and paste it to the place you want to display table in the text editor.
TinyMCE is the another powerful plugin I have gone through and found it very useful, The good thing is that you can decide directly in the editor for table row and column size.
See the table icon in the image below – click on Insert Table and select the number of rows and column for your table, and click on insert finally.
This will draw the desired table in the editor (do not forget to click first in editor, the place you want table to be drawn )
once the table is drawn, you can again click on table icon after selecting the editor table (drawn table) and can apply the formatting.
You can also add/delete rows using the same menu item and can customize the table at any time.
Thanks for reading my post on inserting table.
