- Sell Your Stuff Strategy ( Y3S)
- Sell Their Stuff Strategy (T3S)
I assume at this point, that you have some traffic on your website. Traffic is very important if you want any of the above strategies (Y3S or T3S) to work for you. Read my blog on How to promote your blog,to increase traffic on your blog.
All You Wanted to Know About How to Monetize Your Blog
So, let’s get straight to discuss the monetization strategies that really works.
Sell Your Stuff Strategy
So the first strategy that we will talk about is the “Sell Your Stuff Strategy” and I love to call it as Y3S strategy. This strategy works great for beginners.
You do not need to sign-up with any external entity and you just need to sell or rather market your very own stuff. Here are some amazing ideas.
DIY (Do It Yourself) Guides
As the name suggests you can sell your won Guides. You can prepare Guide on anything, starting from a Food recipe to WordPress Installation Guides. A great way is to distribute free samples and then charge for the Pro Version of the Guide.
I love blogging, I share my guide on how to start a blog, completely FREE.
People love reading on Amazon Kindle, android and on Apple iPhone these days. Seems every second person is writing an eBook, why don’t you give it a try.
You can sell the eBook on your site itself and offer discounts to returning customers, thus increasing your sale over your eBooks. You can even sign-up with Amazon or other sellers to build a brand name of your own.
Old is Gold – Sell Paperback Book
There are people who still love Paperback versions of the Book and I personally feel that the competition has virtually decreased in this space since more and more people are selling eBook these days.
You can even convert your Do It Yourself Guides to paperback books and sell online on your sites. Yes, logistics and payments could be issues that you need to work out, or may contact a local logistics provider for same.
This is relatively new. If you have traffic on your blog and more and more subscribers, then this is the ideal way to make money from your mailing list. You can sell your list to potential sites , that then use the data for digital marketing.
I think, I can go endlessly on this, but just wanted to give some more pointers or food for thought on this.

Sell Their Stuff Strategy (T3S)
In this strategy , you will need to sign-up with a service provider to earn money.
I am sure you must have heard of Google Adsense since this is the most popular form of advertising service provided by none other than Google. You can choose one of the following models of Google Adsense to make money.
Pay Per Click (PPM)
In this model, you get paid for every click as the name suggests “Pay per Click” (PPC). You can sign up for Google Adsense, and you are given a code that you need to integrate into your website. You are provided with Banners , which you can display on your site. As soon as a visitor, clicks on your ads/banner, you will get paid for per Click.
You need to have relatively higher traffic, to earn a decent amount of money from PPC model. Also, a lot of factors govern the Click Through Rate (CTR) of your site and this depends how well your ads are placed on your site. Ads placed at the beginning of the blog have higher CTR. Similarly, your earning depends on the type of ads. While ads from Amazon could only bring an income of around .01$, a real estate ad could generate up to 1$.
PPC ads are really good if you have good traffic on your blog. You can also try following.
Cost Per Mile (CPM)
Have you heard of Impressions? Don’t worry its same as PageViews. In CPM advertising model you get paid for the number of impressions instead of per click. The minimum number of impressions your site needs to generate is 1000 and hence, it works in multiple of 1000.
You get paid for every 1000 Pageviews. Hence, if a website has 100,000 views per month and a CPM of 1$, it will generate an income of 100$ per month. The more space you provide to your advertiser , the more money you will get as well.
So this is also a great and sure shot of way making money if you have good traffic on your website.
This is a great way of making money. You can even become a millionaire , of course not overnight, if you apply correct affiliate marketing strategy.
In short, Affiliate Marketing is the commission that you earn by recommending other products via your blog or site. e.g you can recommend books and sign up for Amazon affiliate program and earn 4% commission for every sale of the book.
There are affiliates that pay up to 75% of the commission to affiliate marketers.
You can more about this on my blog, What is Affiliate Marketing?
Also, read more about, ShareASale affiliate.
With mobile revolution, there is also a revolution in the audio advertising. You must be hearing your favorite songs or music stations and must have heard a lot of ads in between. Yes, that’s Audio advertising is all about.
Sometimes the Audio can be played as soon as someone visits your site. You can play the audio for just a few seconds and you get paid per play.
Sponsored or Paid Product Reviews
You can even write sponsored or Paid Reviews on your website. But you must mention to your readers that , this is a paid review. I generally avoid product reviews, but long back I did use to write. It works great for beginners.
Let me know, which ones worked for you and which ones did not. Also, let me know, which strategies you apply to monetize your blog.
